New Spaces

Entering through the new main entrance, residents and visitors will find themselves at the head of what will be the community’s Main Street—a glass-walled interior corridor linking the new seven-story building with the current main building. Main Street’s first main attraction will be the 218-seat auditorium of a new Cultural Arts Center—action central for performances, lectures and gatherings. Moving north along the street will lead to gallery spaces, a relocated and reinvented library and Whitney Center’s business center, mailroom and bank.

Next along the way will be the salon and spa, the bistro/marketplace and a small shop offering sundries and gifts. At street’s end will be the remodeled main dining room and the cozy lounge called the Fireside Room. Main Street will be more than a thoroughfare. It will be a place to see one’s friends, to stroll at one’s leisure and engage in some of the best aspects of Whitney Center living.
